\s-2SET EDGE FLAG\s+2 creates a structure element
containing a value for the current edge flag attribute.  
When the current edge flag Aspect Source Flag (\s-2ASF\s+2)
is set to \s-2INDIVIDUAL\s+2,
this attribute defines whether or not edges are drawn on
the following output primitives:

The edge flag is an enumerated type defined in phigs.h to have
the following values:

.SS Execution
If the current edit mode is \s-2INSERT\s+2 when \s-2SET EDGE FLAG\s+2 is
called, a \s-2SET EDGE FLAG\s+2 element is inserted into the currently open
structure after the element pointed to by the current \fIelement pointer\fP.  If
the edit mode is \s-2REPLACE\s+2, the new \s-2SET EDGE FLAG\s+2 element
replaces the element pointed to by the element pointer.  In either case, the
element pointer is updated to point to the new element.

When the \s-2SET EDGE FLAG\s+2 element is traversed, the current edge flag
entry in the \s-2PHIGS\s+2 traversal state list is set to edge flag.
When the edge flag \s-2ASF\s+2 is set to
\s-2INDIVIDUAL\s+2 the edges of the fill area set output primitives
that follow in the structure network
are drawn when edge flag is On, and
are not drawn (the default) when edge flag is Off.

When the current edge flag \s-2ASF\s+2 is set to \s-2BUNDLED\s+2,
the edge flag setting is taken from the
workstation's representation indicated by the current edge index.  
In this case, the edge flag set with \s-2SET EDGE FLAG\s+2 has no effect.
